Kanatadika beach is located on the northern part of Evia (facing Magnesia), 6 km north of the city of Istiea. It is one of the most beautiful beaches of the island, ideal place to relax.

The beach is 5 km long and not as popular as other beaches in southern Evia, even during the summer. That makes it a great spot for windsurfers to enjoy their favorite sport when there is enough wind.

Access to Kanatadika:

From Athens: The distance through Chalkida in total is estimated at 195 km (from Chalkida is about 118 km).  Take Athens-Lamia National Road and go to Chalkida. Then drive to the very northwest of Evia and you will find Istiea. Then follow the signs to Kanatadika. The distance through Arkitsa (also from the Athens-Lamia National Road) is 192 km. After Thiva and Atalanti follow the signs to Arkitsa. From there you have to take the ferry to Edipsos. In 45 minutes you will reach Edipsos. As you exit from the harbor you’ll turn left. In about 20 km you will reach the entrance of Istiea. There you will find signs to Kanatadika.

From Thessaloniki: Descending from Larissa and after the tolls before you leave for Volos, continue to Lamia. You will encounter outings for Anghialos, Mikrothives, Sourpi and finally leaving for Glyfa. When you get to the exit, follow the road and in about 15 minutes you will reach the beach of Glyfa. From there you will take the ferry to Agiokampos. The ferry Glyfa-Agiokampos line connects Evia with the mainland (Magnesia). After 11 km you’ll reach the entrance of Istiea. There you will find signs to Kanatadika.

If there is no ferry from Glyfa, you have to drive on the highway until Arkitsa, where you will take the ferry to Edipsos. From there you’ll reach Istiaia and then Kanatadika.

By Bus: You can get to Istiea by intercity buses (KTEL) or from Athens or from Thessaloniki (at some times of the year and from other cities, for example Patras). Then a taxi will take you to Kanatadika. The agency in Athens is located in Liosia (near Kato Patisia "Electric" train Station).

Access to Athens:

Arrival by Airplane: The new airport of Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos”, one of the best airports in Europe, (IATA: ATH, ICAO: LGAV) is located in Spata Town and serves flights to Greece daily from several international airlines from all over the world. You can take a charter flight, so you can carry your windsurf equipment with you as well.

The metro and the Proastiakos-Suburban railway, as well as taxis and buses to and from Athens are to be found opposite the main exit of the airport. The distance is 44 km. The bus journey takes between 35 and 45 minutes to the city centre at Syntagma (Parliament) Square (of course depending on the time and traffic), therefore the best way is to take the “Athens metro” that connects the airport with Athens and Piraeus. There are car hire agencies at the airport, in case you want to rent a vehicle.

Arrival by Ferry/Boat: If you are coming from the European continent and you prefer to take the ferry from an Italian Port, you need to head towards Italy and the Italian ports of Ancona, Venice Bari or Brindisi. Those ports have daily connections to Corfu, Igoumenitsa and Patras. If you are coming from Aegean Sea (from a Greek Island, Turkey or Cyprus) you will reach one of the Attica’s Ports in Piraeus, Rafina or Lavrio Town.

Arrival by Car, Moto, Camper Van: If you’re coming by Ferry from an Italian port, Patra is about 211 km away from the center of Athens and Igoumenitsa is about 445 km. There are some good highways a like the Corinth-Athens and the Athens-Larissa, Corinth-Tripoli and the Egnatia highway.

Arrival by Train: Train travel is not so much in fashion anymore due to the complexity of the journey through the Balkans. Rail services link Thessaloniki with, Athens, Thrace and Patra. The line through what was once Yugoslavia provides connections with Central and Western Europe. The line through Bulgaria connects to Eastern Europe and the line through Istanbul, Turkey with the countries of the Near East.

If you choose to come to Attica by train, when you’ll arrive to “Stathmos Larissis” station, you’ll get the metro Line 2 with direction to “Agios Dimitrios” and after four stops you’ll arrive to Syntagma.
