The beautiful bay of Kalamitsa is located southern of Linaria Port. The lovely resort is ideal for people who want to enjoy the absolute peace and quietness during their vacation. The pebble beach is the largest of the island and combines turquoise waters with the green tree.
Since the wind blows often in Kalamitsa, it is a great place for windsurfers, who often come to the beach especially in the summer months.

As the spot is located southern of the island’s central valley, a jet-effect reinforces the famous and reliable "Meltemi". Here the wind is 1 bft stronger than in the rest of the island. The NE winds of the Aegean Sea with offshore direction blowing force 4-6 and sometimes 7 bft from May to October, turning Kalamitsa into a windsurfing paradise.
It is a little bit gusty, but the stronger the more stable. The wind starts blowing around 11:00 and lasts till 17:00. Best strength from 12:30-15:00.

Seabed made by sand and pebbles. Crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea. There’s plenty of room on the water. Watch out for some reefs close to the shore and the urchins at the south part of the bay.
If you are lucky you may see seals, big shavings or even dolphins!
Access to Kalamitsa: Kalamitsa beach is located at the east part of Kalamitsa Bay. It is found 9 km west of Skyros Town and 7 km from the port of Linaria, by a coastal road.
The island has a good road network that covers most of the island while the main road connects the Chora of Skyros with the Port of Linaria. There is also the north road network starting from the Chora of Skyros with direction to the island's airport, which ends to Atsitsa on the west coast and continues south and southeast to reach the Pefko and to reconnect with the road Chora - Linaria, completing one circular path.
Starting from the Aspus settlement there is a road access to Achilli, and then to Kalikri in order to reach the Kalamitsa bay.
Access to Skyros:
Arrival by Airplane: There is an airline connection of Skyros to Athens and Thessaloniki.
The airport is located 17 km far from the Chora of Skyros in Trachi region and is operating since 1984.
Arrival by Ferry/Boat: Skyros is linked to the rest of Greece by ferries as well as airlines. There is a daily connection from Linaria to Evia and the port of Kymi. During the winter it runs only once a day to and from Skyros, while the summer season there are ferry routes twice a day most days of the week. In special and festive periods (Easter, Christmas, mid-August) the ferry routes increase to meet the visitors' needs. The journey lasts about 1h and 45min.
Arrival by Car, Moto, Camper Van, Bus: You can reach the Port of Kymi by car from Athens using the routes:
1. Athens - Chalkida - Aliveri - Kymi 158 km,
2. Athens - Oropos (ferryboat) - Eretria - Aliveri - Kymi, distance 111 km (only road distance),
3. Athens - Rafina (ferryboat) - Marmari - Kymi 130 km (only road distance).
4. Athens - Nea Makri - Agia Marina (ferryboat) - Nea Styra - Kymi 124 km (only road distance).
The total trip duration is the same regardless which route you take.
Indicative distances and routes from Kymi: Chalkida: 75 km, Thessaloniki: 535 km, Patra: 364 km, Ioannina: 490 km, Preveza: 506 km.
Arrival by Bus: From the port of Kymi there there is a regular connection of Evia Buses with direction to Chalkida (about 2h journey) and Athens (about 3h journey) with the ferry routes.
Local Transportation:
Buses depart from Skyros Town to the main port of the island in Linaria and also to tourist places, like Molos, Magazia and Atsitsa. A bus is at the port any time a ferry arrives to transfer visitors to their destination aroudn the island.
There are also taxis at the port, outside the airport and in central spots of the town.
Car and motorbike rentals are also available in Skyros Town, Molos and Linaria.
