Agios Nikolaos is a small seaside village on Aitoloakarnania. It is situated on the NW side of Anaktorio and is washed by the crystal clear Ionian Sea.
The spot in Agios Nikolaos is divided into three parts. First part is Agios Nikolaos Beginners Spot, that facing the open sea and is meant especially for beginners. Water is shallow and wind is perfectly stable. More experienced riders can make use of the spot on the right side of umbrellas and then further in the sea.
The second part is Agios Nikolaos Freestylers and it is oriented to the other side, facing the town of Agios Nikolaos and it's a lagoon with shallow and total flat water. This part is reserved for freestylers and experienced riders. Teaching of beginners is forbidden here for safety reasons.
The third part, Agios Nikolaos, is across the other two and here kite&windsurf club is located.

During summer thermal winds every day, perfectly stable! When it is sunny, 99% change of wind. Good winds: West, Northwest, North. The summer is the best time to go wind/kitesurfing. Can sail from May until October almost every day, wind picks up around noon, around 16:00-17:00 is the strongest and it ends with a sunset, often even after it. Only 10-15 days in August the wind drops a bit. Best time to get here is in June and July.
Winter not that often wind and a bit gusty too. Overall more gusty than Agios Ioannis spot in Lefkada.
Depth: Shallow (walking several steps not to step on)

Shallow part is 30 m long way from the shore. This spot is also serving all advanced windsurfers who starts from here and go riding to flat lagoon.
Agios Nikolaos is located NW of Antirrio, Messolongi and Agrinio, SW of Preveza and NE of Lefkada.
Arrival by Car, Moto, Camper Van: In order to get to Agios Nikolaos from Central/South Greece, you have to drive with direction to Aktion/Preveza and before reaching these towns, drive western to Lefkada Island. Agios Nikolaos is 11 km before Lefkada Town.
From N/NW Greece first you have to reach Arta and then Preveza and Aktio. The city of Arta is linked with the GR-5 (Antirrio - Ioannina) and the GR-30 which links with Peta and Trikala. The underwater road crossing through the Aktion - Preveza channel ensures the fastest connection of Aetoloakarnania and southern Greece with the coastal zone of the prefectures of Preveza - Thesprotia and the Port of Igoumenitsa. The distance from Preveza to Agios Nikolaos is 17 km.
There are some good highways, like the Corinth-Athens and the Athens-Larissa, Corinth-Tripoli and the Egnatia highway. Agios Nikolaos is about 350 km away from Athens, 362 km from Thessaloniki -Greece's second largest city, 163 km from Patra, 100 km from Igoumenitsa and 67 km from Arta.
Arrival by Bus: There are regular routes from the Preveza Bus Station to Athens, Thessaloniki, Lefkada, towns and regions of the Prefecture of Preveza, cities of Epirus, Thessalia and Patra.
Arrival by Train: Train travel is not so much in fashion anymore due to the complexity of the journey through the Balkans. Rail services link Thessaloniki with Athens, Thrace and Patra. The line through what was once Yugoslavia provides connections with Central and Western Europe. The line through Bulgaria connects to Eastern Europe and the line through Istanbul, Turkey with the countries of the Near East.
Arrival by Airplane: There are flight connections to the nearest airport Action-Preveza, approx. 10 Km from Agios Nikolaos. In the summer you can get a flight directly with charter planes from many countries. Winter is hard to get here.
Another way to reach Agios Nikolaos is by plane to Corfu, the neighbor island. Flights to Corfu are available from almost every European airport. The distance from Corfu to Agios Nikolaos can best be travelled by ferry boat from Corfu to Igoumenitsa. Ferry boats to Igoumenitsa leave Corfu daily between 06.00 and 22.00. It takes about 1-1,5 hours to reach Igoumenitsa.
Many travelers choose a flight to the new airport of Athens, “Eleftherios Venizelos”, one of the best airports in Europe (IATA: ATH, ICAO: LGAV). It is located in Spata Town and serves flights to Greece daily from many international airlines from all over the world. There are domestic flights to Aktion - Preveza Airport several times per week.
Arrival by Ferry/Boat: If you are coming from the European continent and you prefer to take the ferry from an Italian Port, you need to head towards Italy and the Italian ports of Ancona, Venice Bari or Brindisi. Those ports have daily connections to Corfu, Igoumenitsa and Patra. The port of lgoumenitsa is the first big gateway for Western and Central Europe (the port of Patra is the second one).
If you are coming from Aegean Sea (from a Greek Island, Turkey or Cyprus) you will reach one of the Attica’s Ports in Piraeus, Rafina or Lavrio Town.
