Agios Ilias (or Skafidia) is probably the most popular and beautiful wind/kitesurf spot in West Peloponnese.
Pyrgos City is located in the western part of the Peloponnese, in the middle of a plain, 4 Km from the Ionian Sea and 89 km southwest of Patras.

During the winter months Agios Ilias have strong Southwest - West winds over 30 knots with ideal conditions for wave windsurfing.
In summer-time the wind comes from Northwest - West direction and the average force is 17-24 knots. Usually blows steady from 15:00 till 18:00 o'clock.

Amazing spot, superb waves during winter, when forecast is up to 30 knots. Lot of local kite surfers during all year practicing in the spot.
Access to Agios Ilias: You can access Agios Ilias mainly from the National road of Patras - Pyrgos. The spot is found in the 85th kilometer of National road of Patras - Pyrgos, at the exit to Douneika Village, 11 km from the city of Amaliada and 16 km from Pyrgos City. The visitor that comes from another country abroad can reach to the region with airplane to Athens or to the airports of Araxos and Andravida or with boat to the harbour of Patras from Italy and from there via the road network or with the means of mass transport, train or bus.
Access to Ilia: Ilia is accessible through a highway from Athens, by private vehicle or public transportation in the following ways:
Arrival by Airplane: The new airport of Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos”, one of the best airports in Europe, (IATA: ATH, ICAO: LGAV) is located in Spata Town and serves flights to Greece daily from several international airlines from all over the world. You can take a charter flight, so you can carry your windsurf equipment with you as well.
During summer months there are regular flights from Athens and Thessaloniki to Kalamata International Airport (KLX) as well as certain charter flights from major European cities.
You can flight also to the local airports of Araxos (75 km northern) and Andravida (30 km northern).
Arrival by Car, Moto, Camper Van: In order to go to Ilia by car from Athens, the distance is about 310 km, from Thessaloniki the distance is about 580 km,
and from Patras the distance is 110 km.
From Athens: To go from Athens to Ilia by car, you follow the National Highway Athens - Patra and then follow the signs to Pyrgos. The road trip is about 4 and half hours.
From Athens International Airport "El. Venizelos"(ATH): The travel distance is approximately 340 km. From there you can take a taxi or rent a car. Starting from the airport enter Attiki Odos and drive to the end of it (at Eleusis). After you exit Attiki Odos you will automatically enter National Highway Corinth - Patras.
Arrival by Ferry/Boat: If you are coming from the European continent and you prefer to take the ferry from an Italian Port, you need to head towards Italy and the Italian ports of Ancona, Venice Bari or Brindisi. Those ports have daily connections to Corfu, Igoumenitsa and Patras New Port: When you exit from the new port, follow the signs to Pyrgos.
Arrival by Bus: From the airport of Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos”, the metro and the Proastiakos-Suburban railway, as well as taxis and buses to and from the centre of Athens are to be found opposite the main exit of the airport. The distance is 44 km. The bus journey takes between 35 and 45 minutes to the city centre at Syntagma (Parliament) Square (of course depending on the time and traffic), therefore the best way is to take the “Athens metro” that connects the airport with Athens and Piraeus. There are also car hire agencies at the airport, in case you want to rent a vehicle.
The bus E93, which leaves from the main building of the airport (ports 4-5) get off Kifissos bus station from where you change and take Intercity bus running daily from Athens to Pyrgos.
There are also daily buses to Pyrgos from many towns of Greece, including Thessaloniki, Patra, Tripoli, Kalamata, Kyparissia and Ioannina. The bus trip from Pyrgos to Patra is 1 hour.
If you prefer the trains of OSE (public Greek railways), take the Athens Suburban Railway to Loutraki, Corinth, Kiato, Xylokastro, Nemea. From Corinth there are routes to Patra and Pyrgos.
