Tsimari (or Dioni) is located 40 km W from Messolongi, at the mouth of Acheloos River. It is a beautiful laggon area forgotten by ALL in time!
This amazing spot with a lot of wind and calm waters, is ideal for kitesurfing and windsurfing. The lagoon discovered by speed windsurfers; it’s one of the best places for speed surfing in Greece.
Many athletes from Thessaloniki, Nafpaktos, Patras, Mesolongi, Agrinio, Czech Republic etc visit this place every year.

Best conditions with thermal W/NW onshore / side onshore winds in summer period. Force 20-25 knots. The wind is like a fan, very stable.
Depth: Shallow (walking several steps not to step on)
Unique flat water with all directions of W. In winter months water may be enough cold, as it is stagnant, and sometimes can be dangerously shallow.
If you want wavy conditions you can try the sea side! From 18 knots and above series from small waves (beyond the swallow water), suitable for ride, jumps ect. As far from the shore, as bigger the waves.
Access to Tsimari: Tsimari is located W of Antirrio and Messolongi and SE of Preveza. Te distance from the village of Katochi is 18 km and from Messolongi 40 km.
Keep in mind that the road is not marked!
Arrival by Car, Moto, Camper Van: In order to get to Tsimari from Central/South Greece, you have to drive with direction to Messolongi. From N/NW Greece first you have to reach Agrinio. There are some good highways, like the Corinth-Athens and the Athens-Larissa, Corinth-Tripoli and the Egnatia highway.
Access from Athens can be done either via Corinth and then passing through the Bridge or ferry Rio - Antirrio (total distance 279 km), either through Livadia and Itea after riding 363 km.
Access from Thessaloniki -Greece's second largest city, can be done either via Egnatia Motorway (Thessaloniki - Ioannina - Arta - Agrinio - Tsimari) from a route about 435 km, either through the National Road Athens - Lamia (Thessaloniki - Lamia - Amfissa - Nafpaktos - Tsimari) after driving 537 km.
The spot is about 86 km from Patra, 243 km from Igoumenitsa and 120 km from Arta.
Arrival by Airplane: There are flight connections to the nearest airport Action-Preveza, approx. 126 Km from the spot. In the summer, you can get a flight directly with charter planes from many countries. Winter is hard to get here.
Many travelers choose a flight to the new airport of Athens, “Eleftherios Venizelos”, one of the best airports in Europe (IATA: ATH, ICAO: LGAV). It is located in Spata Town and serves flights to Greece daily from many international airlines from all over the world. There are domestic flights to Aktion - Preveza Airport several times per week.
Arrival by Ferry/Boat: If you are coming from the European continent and you prefer to take the ferry from an Italian Port, you need to head towards Italy and the Italian ports of Ancona, Venice Bari or Brindisi. Those ports have daily connections to Corfu, Igoumenitsa and Patra. The port of lgoumenitsa is the first big gateway for Western and Central Europe (the port of Patra is the second one).
